The unstoppable rise of social media as a source for news

Recently, Facebook changed the calculation behind its news food, striking apprehension into the hearts of numerous web publishers and causing widespread panis in the media business.

Alright perhaps not exactly, but rather the change surely didn't go unnoticed. Also, the response it got, mirrors the new reality: social networking by and large, and Facebook specifically, are presently important sources of activity for news outlets.

The reason is basic: that is the place where individuals, especially youngsters, get a large portion of their news. Results from a study of more than 2,000 Americans by Deloitte released it on the 22nd of April just to reinforce the point.

As should be obvious in the GIF above,  TV is still the most prevalent news stage over all age sections.

Yet in the more youthful age bunches, not by much. For millennials matured 14 to 25,  TV and social networking are neck and neck (28% and 26%, individually), the survey found. In the event that these patterns hold up, TV might soon surrender its memorable position as the overwhelming social medium in the United States.

The Vow

The Vow is not precisely a woman's picture. It's all the more about how a man becomes hopelessly in love, loses his affection and surrenders everything in life to concentrate on recapturing his love. One can say its a woman's picture from a male perspective.

"Moments of impact define who we are," says the etched Channing Tatum, who used to be a male stripper before he turned into a film star, and still looks it. That is the sort of sappy corn syrup that goes for narration, and Mr. Tatum is better playing combatants and hellfire raising officers than he is stating it.
He's a fellow named Leo, who owns a recording studio.

The beautiful Rachel McAdams is Paige, a sculptress studying at the Chicago Art Institute. They meet adorably and get married even cuter after he spells "Move In" with blueberries. At that point, on a sentimental winter night under road lights that light the snow like candles, a truck that sends Paige through the windshield back hits their car. When she recovers in the hospital her brain harmed and wearing a Band-Aid, all she recollects is her life before Leo. When he goes to her room, she supposes he's her doctor. He pledges to floor her with adoration, yet she has a feeling that she's sharing space to a stranger. She doesn't even remember him at all, nothing they had, absolutely nothing. He moves to the lounge chair.
At that point her parents (Sam Neill and Jessica Lange) try to take control , and her long-term memory includes a distinctive romance with an old boyfriend (Canadian heart throb Scott Speedman) who returns, needing his offer. She falls into old habits, old mixed drinks and cocktails, old most favourite meals (she overlooks she's a veggie lover). The most imperative thing she forgets about is the vow she made at her wedding: “Regardless of the challenges that might come between us, we’ll always find our way back to each other.” Leo gives his life to making Paige fall head over heels in love with him again.

The Vow appears to be extra moving in light of the fact that its sincerity is not devised. It's a real story and the real couple that experienced this tragedy are shown toward the end, rejoined after years of exertion and hard work.

Before the accident that happened to Paige we see how Leo and Paige met. How they stayed in love. How they stayed in affection. It feels real and it is amazing to watch what’s between these two youthful actors. At the point when Paige no more recalls what they once had, the story starts to become more interesting and more catchy.

I adore Rachel McAdams, and her acting felt so real. But what really grabbed my attention and kept me wanting to watch the movie even more was Leo's passion. He was sentimental, he was afraid, he felt anger, and mostly he was creative and passionate in trying to win back this lady and he desperately wanted it really bad. I really felt his agony and his pain.

Channing Tatum was the real actor here for me. He really played his role perfectly right.

Man in Washington survives 2nd bear attack in 4 years

A man in Washington state has been attacked by a bear twice in his life.

The mans name was bob, he was recently attacked by a bear on april 16th after his dog has spooked the animal, he said.

This happened at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, about 45 miles out of Seattle .

To him it was almost like a deja-vu because he has already been attacked four years ago by a bear, on the same road and running with the same dog. That time he said “he “rolled up in a ball and stayed still .”

But this time, he chose to fight back, he grabbed a tree branch and tried defending himself . The bear bit him more than 40 times and scratched him with its claws.

The first bear was never found by wildlife officials, but this time, they made sure to take down the 300 pound attacker.

Bob still wonders if it may have been the same bear that attacked him in 2011.

Medical Marijuana, Hope For Children With Severe Epilepsy

Marijuana has been a controversial topic around the world over the last few years. It has been an issue that people are trying to legalize in many different states and countries, and is still on its way to being more legalized. Medical marijuana is also something that has been used in the past to treat “terminal illnesses” like cancer.

It has been assumed in the past that medicinal marijuana can treat epilepsy. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder – people experience sudden seizures. They can also experience a loss of consciousness and convulsions. Epilepsy is associated with abnormal electrical activity found in the brain.

There are different levels of epilepsy. Some are so severe that it even affects a person’s intellectual ability. People generally experience a series of seizures. There are individuals who are not responsive to conventional treatment. Or there are people who cannot tolerate it.

There have not been many ways to prove that medicinal marijuana can help treat epilepsy, especially in children. But there were researchers who wanted to study the connection between the two. A new clinical trial has proved that medicinal marijuana really can be effective in some individuals.

The study shows that a liquid form of medicinal marijuana is able to try and prevent seizures in children. This has been proven with children who have not been responding to other treatments.

If medicinal marijuana really does have a positive impact on people who suffer from epilepsy then it will benefit a lot of people who do not respond to other treatments.

During the trial or study scientist recruited a total of 213 people. Their age ranges from young children to adults. The individuals also have twelve different types of severe epilepsy. The people were given an active compound found in cannabis, cannabidiol. His is known to have medical effects on people without getting people high.

The main goal of the trial was to study safety and tolerance. Because of this there was no placebo control. All of the people who participated in the trial were aware of what they were given, and what they were trying.

Throughout the analysis, there were individuals that dropped out. Because of this their results were not included in the overall analysis. Of the 213 selected individuals, 137 people completed the investigation or trial. It lasted twelve weeks. On average the people experienced a 54% decrease in the total number of seizures that they would experience.

People with a certain type of epilepsy – Dravet Syndrome, also saw a reduction in the total number of seizures that they would have.

Part of the reason why people dropped out is because of the side effects that they would experience. Side effects were found in 10% of all of the original trial participants. The side effects include sleepiness, drowsiness, and diarrhea.

The overall results of the trial are encouraging. This is especially because there have not been many trials in the past that test out the connection between medicinal marijuana and a possible treatment for epilepsy. It is not clear how marijuana is able to cause the reduction of seizures, but it is well tolerated by the users.

People can also be assured that the consumers do not have to experience a “drug high” when taking the drug. This is especially conventional for children with epilepsy. It allows people to confidently give their children the drug without actually “drugging them”.

The results of the trial will be presented at the 67th annual American academy of neurology meeting.

It is hoped that this trial will lead to more studies on the link between medicinal marijuana and a treatment for epilepsy.

Live Blogging

Citizen journalism started when technology started to give people a way to report things for themselves one of the tools that people can use is liveblogging. In 1997 Jorn Barger coined the term “weblog”. A weblog was used to express the different links or websites he found interesting; he would “log” them on his own website. Overtime the term weblog was shortened to blog, and now we have the definition of what a blog is today.

There are different types of blogging websites or platforms that allow users the opportunity to create their own blogs. There are platforms like Blogger, WordPress, Live Journal and more. People create personal accounts, and from there they are able to start “blogging”.

Blogging is done at a personal level. There are many differences between “online writing” and “print writing”. The general rules or ways to blog are a lot more relaxed and flexible for the people to use in any way that they want.

Blogs are created for whatever purpose the user wants. There are blogs on everything imaginable. If a person wants to create a blog about food, then they will create a blog about food. The possible blog topics are endless.

When it coms to writing the blog itself, the users do not have to write the way that journalists for newspapers write. The overall style is more informal or personal. Blogs can be written the way that the individual who made the blog speaks.

Blogs also aren’t organized in a way that has the most important news article or post upfront – this is possible, but that depends on your settings and how your organize your blog. Blogs in general are set up in a reverse chronological order. This means that the most recent blog posts are shown first, and older posts are shown on later pages.

When it comes to writing in general, the writer usually needs sources to back up their information. Live blogging is a new tool that is offered by the internet. With that is he advantage and possibility of having an endless range of sources. The internet gives people access to all types of information from all over the world.

Live blogging also allowed more citizen journalism to happen. There are different blogging tools, not just blogger and wordpress, there are microblogging tools like twitter as well. These sources allow people the report things themselves. So everyone went from being a receiver of information to also having the chance to be a creator or a sender of information too.

People will gain information, they can write about something with that information. People are also able to comment on the things that they see. There is generally a comment section on everything posted on the internet now. People also take up a new distribution role – when they share things on their personal facebook accounts or other social media accounts they are joining the group of distributors around the world.

Print writing, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. It is done with many restrictions. The journalists are more conservative with their writing style. Newspapers in general are also organized in a different way completely. When a news article makes the first page it is because it is the “most important piece of news” and the newspaper gives it the most focus.

Live blogging does give journalists more sources and eyewitness accounts to use when it comes to writing their news. This is where data journalists come in. They are able to gain information from different points of view and then combine all the statistics and tell a final story from multiple view points.
