Police officer and conscript killed by undefined gunmen

Two unidentified gunmen started firing on colonel Wael Tahoon’s car when he was on the way to work.

Tahoon and the conscript who was driving the car died as a result of the shooting.

So far , nobody has been held responsible for this attack which occurred hours after former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi has been sentenced by court to 20 years in jail for killing protestors outside the Ittihadiya Palace.

Egypt has witnessed a huge rise in militancy since the military-backed ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule.

According to the Interior Ministry, militant attacks have killed more than 500 security personnel since then.
