"2 drunk 2 care" woman will spend 24 years in jail

Kaila Mendoza a 22 year old woman who tweeted “2 drunk 2 care” before driving the wrong way on a street in Florida and killing a pair of 21-year-olds in 2013.

After a court appearance this week, the court has sentenced her for 24 years in jail.

On the night of the crash in 2013, she was driving her car after drinking 'underage' at a local restaurant. Mendoza’s blood alcohol level was reported at .15, which was twice the legal limit, as she was speeding down the highway driving over 80 miles per hour.

During her sentencing at the court, Mendoza, while weeping has said an apology to the families of the victims. They were all present, crying and wearing t-shirts printed with the girls’ faces.

They answered each individually saying that her apology will not bring the two girls back and it will not change anything.

Teens are taking the "Kylie Jenner Challenge" to get big lips

So many kids are stupid enough and social media has given them a very public opening for their stupidity.

There has been so many kids trying out the so called "The Kylie Jenner challenge".

Basically these kids are trying to make their lips all swollen up and puffy just like Kylie Jenner.

So in order to do so, what they do is they put a bottle or a glass on their mouth for a particular amount of time so that the bottle or glass become locked on their faces specifically on their mouth and the blood begins to flow in this part resulting that their lips puff up.

Then these kids start taking photos or videos of their "Jenner-alike" lips and posting them on social media for all the world to see. Even men started doing "The Kylie Jenner Challenge".

Kylie Jenner finally admits her lips are actually fake

There has been so many rumors going on about Kylie Jenner's lips.

People have gone viral on social media and are dying to know if her lips are naturally that plump or she has them done.

Finally the world gets an answer to what they have been wondering about for a while.

Khloe Kardashian admits that Kylie Jenner's lips are fake and she says that she thinks Kylie should openly say it instead of having so many people wonder about it and that is no big deal.

Kylie Jenner then in another clip finally comes out clean, admitting that her lips are actually fake and not naturally plump.

German train drivers start a strike

Drivers for Germany's "Deutsche Bahn" have started a week-long strike, their eighth protest in 10 months of pay arrangements and the longest in the rail administrator's history.

Cargo train drivers have stopped work on Monday evening, with traveler train drivers to take action accordingly at 02:00 local time on Tuesday.

Their union, GDL, is asking for a 5% pay rise.
It likewise needs to cut the working week from 39 hours to 37 and the privilege to represent staff, for example, train stewards.

"This strike is completely inappropriate and totally over the top," Deutsche Bahn" said.

"The GDL union is going to cause massive harm to rail passengers, Deutsche Bahn and its employees, but also to the German economy." said the train organization in an announcement.

Living alone sucks.

Ever since I came back from Saudi Arabia to go to college here in Egypt, life has changed a lot. I always thought living alone would be all cool and easier but it didn't turn out to be that way at all.

I moved to Egypt three years ago to come continue my studies here. I wasn't excited about coming here at all but when I did it didn't end up being so bad. I lived with my brother for the first year and a half until he finished studying fine arts and moved back to Saudi Arabia to find himself a Job. He left me all alone. I have nobody here but my puppy, named "Pootshi".

Pootshi has become my everything ever since I got him as a gift for my birthday first year I came to Egypt. He is my dad, my brother, my boyfriend or better to say he was and is family to me, but enough about Pootshi for now.

Life is so hard right now on me since I am "the man of the house". I do everything around here. I do grocery shopping, I pay the bills, I must visit families every now and then, I must clean, I must cook, I do laundry, I can go on for days saying what I have to do since I live alone. I'm responsible for everything. Living alone sucks.

Life was way easier when I had my mum cook for me or do my laundry and take care of the house herself, but now it's such a big responsibility on me to DO EVERYTHING. I wish I could go back in time and start school days all over again. Or I just wish my family were here, or like I was there. I want them with me. I'm sick of being all alone. It's either they come back or I will just get married and have my husband do some of the house work for me. Who am I kidding, men don't do shit, it will be even harder on me.

I'm not the type of person that likes to complain and I am thankful about everything in my life right now but sometimes I just need to take a break from all this for a minute and just not think about anything anymore. Growing up made me realise that life will hit you in the head everyday of your life. I don't even know why when we were all young we wanted to grow up so fast, I really want to be a little girl again. I want a time machine for real. But oh well, that option isn't possible and I am proud of what I have been put through because it made me who I am today and it made me have responsibility in many things, it made me become a man. Yes I might sometimes need someone to help me get through these things, but if this "someone" is not there, I know I can do anything alone with nobody's help. And yes I really am proud of what I turned out to be.

So yes, living alone might suck so much, but one day it will make you become someone you never thought you would be, someone strong and someone to depend on.

So what does fitness actually mean ?

We could start by saying that fitness is defined as "the ability to perform physical activity."
This description goes beyond, beyond being able to life a lot of weights at the gym or being able to run long distances.
Fitness has important features; that we need to know about to understand the meaning of fitness even a bit more.
So the five main features or components of fitness include:

1.     Cardiorespiratory endurance

The meaning of Cardiorespiratory endurance is how are bodies are able to supple power during any physical activity through the bodies circulatory and respiratory systems. The Cardiorespiratory endurance has two parts. The first part is how efficient your heart and lungs are delivering oxygen to all your body and the second part is creating energy that your muscles might need in order to contract. Activities that help improve cardiorespiratory endurance are activities like jogging, swimming, cycling or just walking.

The second component is:

    2.   Muscular strength

Muscular strength is the ability of muscles to exert any force during an activity. One can strengthen his/her muscle by making "resistance training", training the muscle to work against resistance. A muscle must be stuffed to be strengthened and this can only be done by lifting weights.

The third component is:

   3.   Muscular endurance

It is the ability of a muscle of a muscle to exert much force without it tiring out. Muscular endurance training also helps in developing the slow twitch fibre in your muscles. A small tip that I can add here is that this muscle endurance can be improved by cardiorespiratory activities as I mentioned above.

The forth component is:

  4. Body composition

It is the comparative amounts of muscle, bone and fat; these are the elements that make up the body composition. Even though someone's weight might not be changing, this does not have to mean that their level of fat is still remaining the same. One must understand that people with high muscle ratio weight more than those of the same height and waist size but have less muscle.

The fifth and last component:

 5. Flexibility

Flexibility is the most important component of all the five. It is the choice of movement across a joint and it improves the ability to link movements together so it might as well help avoid injuries.
There are different types of Flexibility:
  • Dynamic flexibility (dynamic or active movements of the muscles)
  • Static-Active flexibility (extra flexibility of the muscles)
  • Static-Passive flexibility (passive flexibility of the muscles)
To improve your flexibility try stretching in activities that lengthen the muscle such as swimming.

Entrepreneurial Journalism

A summary of the article "Entrepreneurial Journalism: The Life of the Freelance" by Mary Evans

Entrepreneurial Journalism Summary
It is made up of freelance journalists. A freelancer is someone who is self-employed and hired to work for different companies on particular assignments.

Every freelancer faces challenges that can be summarized to:
  • ·        Finding work
  • ·        Income
  • ·        The future for freelancers

There were different perspectives from freelancers on the field
Adrian MacLeod, a media consultant, was negative on how he saw freelancers in general. He sees that freelancers don’t get paid enough for the work that they do, and that finding work is hard to begin with.

Fleetstreetfox, a freelancer for 20 years and a blogger, thinks that the industry has not changed at all. The only difference is that now there are more people in the field.
Sally Brockway, also a successful freelancer, thinks that the field was a lot better in the past. Her main issue was the money. She says that today she would be happy to get paid half of what she used to. Sally also does not recommend freelancing as a career,
Ian Abbott, an editor, says that the use of freelancers over time has decreased.

Currently, publications are choosing younger freelancers over the people that are experienced and working. This is because the newer journalists are willing to be paid less. Another reason is that the publications can train the new journalists to work the way that they want them to work.

It is advised that future freelancers need to create something different by getting stories that nobody else will get. It is also important to form a strong network, because knowing people is what helps freelancers get employed and advance in the field.

As times are changing, freelancers should stay up to date. New media should be embraced and used as a tool. Twitter, for example, is great for personal branding and networking. Freelancers should follow and interact with people. Their posts should be something worth sharing.

CHALLENGING QUESTIONS:

·      “I was a writer for 40 years. Now I’m a content provider. And content is free” (P J O’Rourke, 2012). What are the differences between a “writer” and a “content provider” and how do they affect modern freelancing.

I think a “writer” is somebody that writes basically anything in general, and therefore anybody can write and publish his or her work online. So this here is one of the reasons why people nowadays are wondering why they are supposed to pay people who just write basically and post online.

A “content provider” is somebody that provides people with content for them to make use of it. We can freely access and gain information through social media, anyone’s personal blogs or any other free publications that offers gaining information and we do not have to pay for any of it. To journalists, "content" is reading material or information of value to their target market. To us, the best content comes from writers.

·      Should freelancing be better regulated to prevent undercutting? Or is it every freelance for themselves?

A freelancer’s lifestyle does not allow many people the freedom to reach for better regulating. If any freelancer asks or argues about his or her payment they might as well just not get the job, because there are many other people who wouldn’t mind working in this career as long as they will be gaining any kind of money.
I think the regulations need to be changed for the people who work a lot and get way less than what they really deserve.

·      “Video killed the radio star” (The Buggles). Has digital journalism killed traditional print media freelancing?

Well I think that digital journalism overall is taking over print media somehow and there has been a huge decline that print media has been facing nowadays. Print media will only live with the generation that grew up using print media. In the generation we are living in now it seems that digital media will take over.

·      In new age of “citizen journalism” when anyone on the street can publish fact or opinion, what role is there for the freelance journalist?

The Freelancers are responsible for handling their own business finances. They also have their own PR team. The journalists take all the posts of people as free content and they are the ones that can reach out to people for more information. They have a kind off something we can call power in writing something.
